The 571-unit residential condo building will be located on the southeast corner of the intersection.
The executive committee approved the applicant’s request and it will go before council for ratification on April 22.Â
A 40-storey condo is coming to Valley Farm Road in Pickering, on a vacant lot just north of Hwy. 401.
The 571-unit residential condo building will be located on the southeast corner of the intersection.
The planning and development committee approved a zoning bylaw amendment application by Pickering Valley Developments Limited earlier this month, and it will come before council on April 22 for ratification.
The developer has offered one unit to Habitat for Humanity GTA at no cost.
The building will also contain a podium that will range from four to six storeys.
The podium will include parking on the lower levels, and a dog washing station, a coworking lounge, a bike repair area, a gym, a crafting area and a children’s sports area on the upper levels.
The developer is asking the city to increase the maximum number of storeys allowed from 25 to 40. Staff said this request is consistent with City Centre Neighbourhood policies, which encourages the highest of buildings to be located along Hwy. 401.
